Eurotest training

Eurotest training this year will run for 5 weeks – 9 November till 11 December 2009.

The 5 weeks form a progression from focussing in the early stages on technical accuracy and skill development, through to the latter stages of the programme where the focus is much more on getting down a GS course fast and consistently.

On this basis, the first couple of weeks will see you training both in and out of gates on a mixture of hard and easy terrain. As you may know, it can be very difficult to make significant technical changes to your skiing when skiing challenging courses on steep terrain. It’s for this reason that we often spend time on easier terrain to learn new movements and skills. Once these new skills become reliable in your performance, we’ll then head up to steeper and more challenging terrain and courses.

From here onwards, although we’ll continue developing technically, we’ll also address more of the physical, tactical and notably psychological aspects of GS skiing. With as challenging a test as the Eurotest, physical application and efficiency become major factors. Although we can’t change your physical attributes at this late stage, we can help you get the best out of what attributes you do have. We will also help you understand how to inspect courses, and how to decide what tactics to use at various key sections of the course. On top of these, we’ll develop your mental skills such as attention control which allows you to focus more effectively, and also visualisation.

As the last two weeks approach, we’ll work much more on speed and consistency. In short, helping you ski to your maximum potential as consistently as possible.
